Research & Innovation

The cluster members conduct research in areas spanning the theoretical foundations of cryptography to the design and implementation of different kinds of secure devices, protocols, specifications, software and services.
We are a group of professors and researchers belonging to different departments, centres and schools at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, Spain) collaborating in research, education, innovation and knowledge & techology transfer in the fields of Cybersecurity and Privacy. The cluster was formally set up in 2016, since then its evolution and growth have been continuous until now, when it is composed of around 40 members including faculty, research staff and pre-doctoral researchers.
The cluster members conduct research in areas spanning the theoretical foundations of cryptography to the design and implementation of different kinds of secure devices, protocols, specifications, software and services.
The cluster has a strong involvement with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the fields of Cybersecurity and Privacy. But also with private training (courses and seminars) and with awareness campaigns and initiatives focused on different groups (C-level, public servants, young people, elderly people).
Cybersecurity has widened to include topics like data science, biometry, cyber crime, law and ethics. The cluster brings together researchers and collaborators from different knowledge areas to cover all these topics in projects, contracts, patents and publications.
The members of the cluster, and the group itself, have received different recognitions and awards for their excellent work in research and innovation as well as in teaching, scientific dissemination and knowledge transfer to society.
The cluster has an international reputation that allows its members to participate in european consortiums, organizations and standardization bodies and to establish long-term partnerships with international companies and research groups.
